Industry Veteran Gene Todd Begins New Role Leading Business Development at Fiduciary Trust


NEW YORK, NY—January 28, 2020—Fiduciary Trust Company International, a global wealth manager and wholly-owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton, announces that Gene Todd has joined the firm as executive vice president for business development. Based in San Mateo, CA, where Franklin Templeton is headquartered, Mr. Todd will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of client development.

In his new position, Mr. Todd will develop and implement strategies to increase Fiduciary Trust’s market share, revenue, and profitability. These strategies will include initiatives for driving new business among high-net-worth individuals and families in the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

Mr. Todd, an executive committee member of the Bank, Insurance & Securities Association’s board of directors, has more than 25 years of experience in multiple areas of the financial services industry, including wealth management, private equity, venture capital, M&A, and leveraged buyouts. He joins Fiduciary Trust Company International from First Bank, Inc., one of the country’s largest family owned banks in St. Louis, where he served as executive vice president and head of the wealth management group.

Mr. Todd previously served as director of sales at Key Private Bank in Cleveland, where he created a wealth management insurance platform. Prior to joining Key Private Bank, Mr. Todd was a senior managing director and head of the Equity Sponsor Group at National City Corp., now PNC Bank. Prior to joining PNC, Mr. Todd was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley in New York, where he focused on M&A and capital market transactions for leveraged buyout firms.

Mr. Todd earned his MBA in finance from the University of Michigan, and received his bachelor of science in finance from The Ohio State University. While living and working in St. Louis, he served on the boards of directors for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, and Loyola Academy. He is a frequent contributor to CNBC and other news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal.
