Fiduciary Trust International honored as Organization of the Year in 2024 Citywealth Powerwomen Awards
Global wealth manager & Franklin Templeton subsidiary recognized for contributions in supporting female leadership; while Chair Emeritus Gail Cohen wins Woman of the Year in the Career Achievement category
NEW YORK, NY —March 26, 2024—Fiduciary Trust International, a global wealth manager and wholly-owned subsidiary of Franklin Templeton, has been bestowed with the Organization of the Year – Female Leadership award at the prestigious 2024 Citywealth Powerwomen Awards. In addition, Gail Cohen, Chair Emeritus, has been named the Woman of the Year in the Career Achievement category.
The Citywealth Powerwomen Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that champion women in the wealth sector, recognizing their efforts to foster gender diversity and social influence within the industry. Fiduciary Trust International has a long track record of empowering and supporting women within its senior ranks and fostering opportunities for women in the broader wealth and investment management industry. The majority of the firm’s Executive Committee are women or people of color, and its management committee includes 50% representation of women.
"It is a strong testament to the female leaders – past and present – who have contributed to the success and growth of Fiduciary Trust International, that we have been recognized this year by Citywealth Powerwomen Awards with the Organization of the Year award in the female leadership category,” said Lisette Cooper, Vice Chair at Fiduciary Trust International, who leads the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. “And that is why it is fitting that Gail Cohen has also received the Woman of the Year - Career Achievement award. Gail is a dynamic leader and has significantly helped to shape our organization's culture and spearheaded diversity and inclusion initiatives within the wealth management sector."
Throughout her esteemed career, Ms. Cohen has championed diversity and inclusion while making significant contributions to the wealth sector. In late 2023, after nearly 30 years of dedicated service to Fiduciary Trust International, Gail stepped down from her role as Chair of the Board of Directors. Gail transitioned to the role of Chair Emeritus, and today continues to serve as a member of the boards of Fiduciary Trust International and Fiduciary Trust International of the South.
"Being recognized as the Woman of the Year - Career Achievement by Citywealth Powerwomen Awards is truly humbling and evidenced by the collective efforts of everyone at Fiduciary Trust International," said Ms. Cohen. "Throughout my career, I've been privileged to work alongside dedicated colleagues who share a commitment to excellence and advancing diversity and inclusion within our industry. This award is not just a reflection of my own efforts but also of the supportive environment cultivated at Fiduciary Trust International."
During her career, Ms. Cohen also played a significant role in the inception of “Women@FTI” at Franklin Templeton, the parent company of Fiduciary Trust. Drawing from her personal journey navigating a male-dominated profession to achieve a senior leadership position, she actively contributed to fostering positive change in the workplace for women professionals. Ms. Cohen is also a former Chair of the New York Bankers Association, where she was the first woman to hold the position. In that role, she oversaw the launch of “Women in Banking,” which has become one of the organization’s most successful ongoing initiatives.
Ms. Cohen also holds the Distinguished Accredited Estate Planner® designation, has been elected into the NAEPC Estate Planning Hall of Fame, and has been honored by the Trusts and Estates Lawyers Division of the UJA.
